The Check In TAS app is a new Tasmanian Government system that is now available to help venues and patrons/visitors record and store contact details.
The app enables patrons/visitors to check-in to businesses, venues and events and have their data stored securely with the Tasmanian Department of Health in the event contact tracing is needed due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the community.
The app also supports venues operators and event organisers meet the current Public Health requirement to record contact details of individuals or one member of a group of patrons/visitors who spend more than 15 minutes on the premises.
Businesses can register for the Check in TAS app via the online form.
Although a range of methods are available for venues and patrons to record details of their visits to hospitality venues, the Check In TAS app will enable the Department of Health to store the contact details for 28 days before they are automatically destroyed.
Government privacy restrictions also apply to the use and storage of the information which will only be used in case contact tracing is required by the Department of Health.
