Dr Scott McKeown, Acting Director of Public Health, Public Health Services
Starting tomorrow, all high-risk people in hotel quarantine in Tasmania who have arrived from a hotspot, such as Victoria, will be strongly encouraged to be tested for coronavirus.
Testing will be focused at day five and day 12 of arrivals’ quarantine period.
In addition to quarantine this measure adds a further layer of protection against coronavirus spreading into the Tasmanian community.
Any person in hotel quarantine who displays any cold or flu symptoms at any time will continue to be tested.
Tasmanians with cold or flu-like symptoms such as a cough, sore throat, runny nose, or fever should contact their GP or call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange testing for coronavirus.
The situation with coronavirus is changing frequently. People can stay up to date by visiting the coronavirus website www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au or the Australian Government Department of Health website at www.health.gov.au.
