Travellers who have spent time in medium and high-risk areas and premises prior to arriving in Tasmania are required to provide information to help determine entry and quarantine requirements.
This includes people wanting to enter Tasmania as Essential Travellers.
Information is required for all individuals travelling. Children under the age of 18 can be included on an accompanying adult’s G2G PASS, however, when travelling unaccompanied, they will need their own G2G PASS.
G2G PASS submissions can be created and managed via the website and also managed via the app.
A G2G PASS provides a QR code – a type of barcode that can be scanned on your arrival.
Travellers who receive their G2G PASS QR code before travelling are able to quickly pass through Tasmanian ports on arrival. Anyone without a G2G PASS QR code on arrival is asked by Biosecurity Tasmania officers to register on the G2G PASS website. If a traveller is unable to complete the online submission, Biosecurity Tasmania officers are available to assist.
Before you travel
Travellers are encouraged to apply for a G2G PASS at least three (3) business days prior but no more than 14 days prior to their proposed travel date. Submissions are prioritised according to travel date and those with long lead times are unlikely to be processed earlier than two weeks before travel, due to the possibility of changing border restrictions.

Applicants need their driver’s licence, passport, Medicare card or Tasmanian Personal Information Card to complete a submission for a G2G PASS. They are asked to provide details about themselves and information about recent travel and current health status. If applying for an exemption from quarantine or for recognition as an Essential Traveller, additional questions will be asked to confirm eligibility under these categories.
Documents and/or files should be attached to provide evidence to support submissions. If suitable evidence is not provided, a submission will be declined and will require resubmission.
Once information is submitted and the email address verified, applicants can track their submission by logging into the G2G PASS dashboard or downloading the G2G PASS app. See G2G PASS FAQs for more information.
Travellers will be notified by email of the outcome of their submission and receive a G2G PASS QR code if their submission is successful.
A G2G PASS allows entry to Tasmania, but travellers may be subject to quarantine and other requirements when they arrive.
On arrival in Tasmania, a traveller’s G2G PASS QR code is scanned and they are asked to provide updated information on their recent travel and health status, as at the date of arrival.
Depending on the answers to these questions, the conditions provided in the traveller’s G2G PASS may change (eg being required to quarantine in government-designated accommodation). This advice will be provided by an authorised officer.
Travellers must ensure they are aware of the conditions that apply to them while in Tasmania, including revisiting the list of conditions that on the day of arrival in Tasmania. This list may be updated with any change to the Directions issued by the Deputy State Controller.
