Private airstrips

The State Controller has prohibited any aeroplane or aircraft whose flight commences outside Tasmania from landing (other than in the case of an emergency or with prior consent) at any place within Tasmania other than at the following:

  • Hobart International (Strachan Street, Cambridge)
  • Cambridge Aerodrome (115 Kennedy Drive, Cambridge)
  • Launceston (201 Evandale Road, Western Junction, Launceston)
  • Devonport (Airport Road, Devonport)
  • Burnie (3 Airport Street, Wynyard)
  • King Island (Morrison Avenue, Loorana)
  • Flinders Island (122 Palana Road, Whitemark)

Please note that there are arrival restrictions to arriving at King Island or Flinders Island if you are subject to quarantine in a government-designated accommodation. See Travelling to Tasmania’s islands for more information.

Private, charter and itinerant vessels and aircraft

Private, charter and itinerant vessels entering Tasmania need to register their arrival with Biosecurity Tasmania 24 hours before arriving, as do any aircraft landing at Cambridge Aerodrome, King Island or Flinders Island airports and all private and charter flights landing at Devonport and Burnie airports.

Individual passengers and crew can register through the Tas e-Travel system if they have only spent time in low-risk areas in the 14 days before arriving in Tasmania.

Once all passengers and crew members have registered, vessels and aircraft should contact biosecurity.bookings@dpipwe.tas.gov.au to register their arrival with Biosecurity Tasmania.

Travellers who have spent time in medium-risk and/or high-risk areas in the 14 days before arriving in Tasmania will not be able to register through the Tas e-Travel system. See Coming to Tasmania for more information.
